Position overview:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day management of internal infrastructure, application, and other technology systems, in conjunction with the other team members and at the direction of the Director of IT. This person will take a leadership role within the team and will be the owner of various technology systems.

Responsibilities include:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring and maintaining the overall health of:

  • Microsoft 365 systems (Email, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Active Directory
  • Network infrastructure, including switches and routers
  • Windows/Linux servers
  • Management of various application packages and cloud services
  • Various back-end operations software (financial, project accounting, backup, etc.)
  • VMWare ESXi and accompanying hardware/software
  • Developing and implementing a vulnerability management program to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities across the organization’s technology infrastructure
  • Collaborating with other IT teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the organization’s technology infrastructure.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest security threats and technologies to ensure systems are protected against emerging threats

The Systems Engineer is accountable for developing, maintaining, and leading the process for:

  • Incident Management
  • Change Management

In conjunction with the team, the systems engineer will participate in:

  • Day-to-day technical support of supported systems
  • Use your vast skills and knowledge to assist the team members with various technical support issues
  • Leading incident management and participating in troubleshooting activities within the team
  • Communication and education efforts as they relate to technical or enterprise systems.
  • Ensuring proper user/system management practices, adhering to g2o security policies
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers
  • Designing, architecting, and maintaining enterprise level solutions

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Previous experience working with end users in a customer/client support role
  • 8 years experience supporting Windows server and Linux operating systems.
  • 8 years experience managing authentication systems, including Active Directory, Azure AD.
  • 5 years experience with VMware. Experience with Dell VxRail platform is preferred
  • 2 years experience with Cisco network stack is preferred.
  • 5 years experience with Microsoft/Office 365 offerings. Significant experience with Exchange Online email and Teams is preferred.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure services is preferred
  • Ability to work well with the team or individually as needed.
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools is a plus
  • Experience with identity and access management (IAM) systems and technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
